The platform

Every warranty, on record and findable.

Created from the appointment when the job is done, not from memory. Two years later a claim starts with the client’s name, not a hunt through someone’s phone.

The record

What a warranty actually holds.

The warranty is created when a Service appointment is marked Completed or Job Done. One line per service. Each line takes its term from the first product used on that service that has one.

Claims

Every claim has an owner.

A claim is not just a claim. It was the shop's work, the manufacturer's product, or something the customer did to the car. You name which one on the claim itself, as Manufacturer Fault, Customer Fault, Shop Fault or Other, so this month’s claims split by fault instead of sitting in one pile, and each count is set against last month.

Shop Fault6

claims this month

Lifting on an edge, a contamination line, a panel that was not prepped properly. You redo it, and the film and the hours come straight out of your own margin.

Change on last month+20%
Manufacture Fault11

claims this month

A bad batch, yellowing, adhesive failure inside the term. The claim already holds the item serial number, the car parts and the photos, and Submit to Manufacture saves a note of what you sent.

Change on last month-8%
Customer Fault4

claims this month

A stone chip, a pressure washer held too close, a bad wash. It is not a warranty job, it is chargeable work, and having it on the record is what makes that conversation short.

Change on last month+33%

Without the split, all twenty one look like the same problem. With it, six are your own work, eleven belong to a supplier, and four were never yours to begin with.

Registration

A warranty nobody registered is a warranty nobody honours.

Manufacturer backed cover only exists once somebody registers it. Registration lives on its own screen with its own queue and its own All, Unregistered and Registered tabs, so an unregistered warranty is a visible job rather than something you find out about two years later when a customer is standing at your counter.

A claim, end to end

Raised, answered, closed.

A claim opens against a real warranty, so the vehicle, the service, the job it came from and the warranty line are on it before anybody types a word. Watch one walk from New to Closed, and see what each move writes down.

Opened against warranty WR-768-1779702894, with its warranty lines selected first. The vehicle, the service, the job and the warranty line are already on it, so nobody is hunting for what was actually done to this car.

Terms

Every product carries its own term.

A five year ceramic and a two year vinyl wrap are not the same promise. The term is set on the product, once. When a Service appointment is done, each warranty line copies the term from the first product used on that service that has one. If none has a term, staff pick it under How long is the warranty?, so every line carries a length instead of whatever the person at the desk remembered.

The term is copied onto the line when the warranty is created. Change a product later and the lines already created keep the term they were sold under, which is the only way an old warranty stays worth anything.
